With 03’s ‘Good Mourning’, Alkaline Trio had stepped out of the Chicago underground and become one of punk rock’s greatest mainstream prospects. For the first time online, read the hectic story of its creation, told by the band themselves.
Reading has a formative effect on a person, inspiring how they see the world and understand their place within it.
You ever wonder why us plebeians even wake up in the morning? Probably not until you read that grown-up-punks Matt Skiba and Mark Hoppus are starting a little-human-punk band called The Cereal Killers for children to rebel with spoons everywhere. Listen to Skiba talk about the project here and a description on the podcast episode below after the jump.
In case you still haven’t listened to the interview posted yesterday, here is why your really really should.

Happy Independence Day Weekend! Buy this and make the world a better place. Here’s my sales pitch. 12 full length records(normal price $144), asian man exclusive tshirt(normal price $12), Asian Man Slip Mat exclusive to record club(normal price $8), Asian Man Pint glass exclusive to record club(normal price $10) That’s $174 worth of stuff for only $100. Plus we’ll be throwing in extra goodies like stickers and posters and extra records. To top it off, for anybody who orders this through the weekend, you can hand pick 5 records(no double lp’s) from our back catalog of your choice instead of the automatic 12 new releases. did that make sense? You’ll get 5 records of your choice and then the next 7 future full lengths(or 7” equals half a full length).Questions? email me at email@example.com Seriously, this is the best thing you can do for yourself. Oh, I guess we’ll be seeing each other in line quite often then! And no, the only two people I know passed this time unfortunately. It’ll be only 3 weeks after summer ends, so yeah, I hope it doesn’t get cold too fast.
Yes! How many nights are you going to? I’m really nervous because I’ll be taking the trip all by myself this time. It’s a good thing it won’t be as cold because I sure as hell still haven’t purchased a proper winter coat since then. It’s pretty funny because the last time the band came around, the weather was a lot colder than usual for Texas during that time of year and yet again, I had no real coat. But it’s Texas so neither did anyone else in line. Later on by the buses Matt called us fucking insane for wearing nothing but jackets. Haha.

Mod Cynthia here. Hi, how are you. I rarely pop in here with the personal stuff for the years I’ve been running this thing all by my lonesome.
Are those fortunate enough to get to the special Trio shows in October excited? I sure am. That said, it looks like I’ll be traveling to Chicago all the way from Texas all by myself to the shows.
I would rather not be alone, but I don’t have any friends in my area that are going. I’ve only ever been to Chicago once for the Trio NYE show a few years ago so I don’t really know my way around or anything like that and my sense of direction is complete shit. All jokes about me being really stupid trying to pull this off despite that, I would really appreciate anyone in the chicago area who would be willing to help a fellow dedicated fan out by helping them get around. A subway buddy would be nice.
Even better, if you’re planning on traveling to the Chicago shows and are looking for someone to split a hotel with or wouldn’t mind someone squeezing into your room, that would be super!
